Freakish Festivals: The One’s That’ll Make Your Heart Race

Every young adult wants to have the experience of full on raging at a music festival. Deafening music, friendly people, the works. What’s not to like?? We all have different bucket lists, and I suggest that if you don’t have one of these festivals on yours, add it!

Located in Indio, California, Coachella is notorious for it’s fashion and celebrity appearances. Spectators not only go for the music, but for prime people watching, ogling at the questionable outfits many Coachella-goers choose to wear. Stars like Mila Kunis, Vanessa Hudgens, Katy Perry, and Rihanna aren’t uncommon to sight roaming around the grounds. Just try not to drool too much.

Ah… the beautiful Windy City – Chicago, Illinois. I have been fortunate enough to have been invited by my girlfriend, an annual Lollapaloozer, and will be attending this upcoming August! The picture above was taken by her last year. [Check out her photography blog here!] Three days, dozens of bands, headlined by Paul McCartney and Metallica. You can see how broad ranging their music choices are. Other artists include Alt-J, A$AP Rocky, Kid Cudi, Bassnectar, and many many more. Here’s the full list.

What EDM [electronic dance music] lover doesn’t want to go to Tomorrowland? People travel from all across the globe to attend the days long festival, hosted in Belgium. I don’t expect you to watch it all, but here’s an after movie created post 2014 Tomorrowland. It’ll give you a taste of what’s to come.

Burning Man

If you’re a fiend of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, then there’s no better place for you than Burning Man. There are a whole lot of all of the above. I must say, if I do get a chance to attend, I will be pretty nervous the first time because I’ve heard a lot of stories about the festival. I’m sure you can find them online if you’re interested. Either way, prepare yourself for a long, dry, experience in the deserts of Northern Nevada! it’s a little bit tricky to get to the event, but from my understanding it’s well worth it.

Are there any festivals you of that are a must see?? Comment them below, I’d love to add them to my bucket list!

  1. I went to Coachella about 8 years ago, two years in a row. It was truly one of the funnest experiences of my life. Great memories. I also attended Rock Werchter in Belgium one year.
My brother went to Burning Man for the first time last year and he said it’s not all sex and drugs, because that was also my impression of it. He also said it’s an experience like no other and pretty much indescribable until you live it. He’s going again this year.

  2. The Fest in Florida is an amazing experience. It’s in Gainesville and takes place Halloween weekend, when the football team and fans are out of town. It’s 10-20 small venues, each with 12 hours of music each day, and one wristband gets you into every venue for the weekend. It’s mostly punk bands and the Halloween setting turns the entire city into a circus.
My personal favorite and a must-do if you don’t like the crowds and discomfort of the outdoor festivals.
