The DMV (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia [and also Washington D.C.]) is very popular for almost every style of music! Whether you’re listening to Kendrick Lamar at the Merriweather Post Pavillon or Jimmy Buffet at Jiffy Lube Live; the National Symphony Orchestra at Wolftrap or Kanye West at the Verizon Center, we’ve got it all covered! Here are my top music venues in the area.
Jiffy Lube Live
Jiffy Lube Live, located 38 miles away from Washington D.C in Bristow, VA, is a venue who brings in huge names such as Lana Del Rey, Jimmy Buffet, Chris Brown, and many others! I will be heading there tomorrow for my 2nd Event there, both of which happen to be for Jimmy Buffet. That’s right, I’m a parrot head! Here’s their schedule.
Merriweather Post Pavillon
For me, writing about the Merriweather Post Pavillon brings back fond memories of SweetLife, a festival that, if you’re in the area, you should not miss! Located in Columbia, MD, SweetLife is a two day festival headlined by performers such as Kendrick Lamar and Calvin Harris in the middle of the woods and is an experience like none other! Buy your tickets early, because they go fast. Here are some of the other performances at MPP.
Washington D.C. is full of bars and clubs and venues, but the 9:30 Club sticks out to all of us locals. Typically staging alternative style, the 9:30 Club puts on amazing venues, with a great atmosphere and a fantastic production. Although smaller than the previous two, I definitely suggest making a stop by. Watch a group you’ve never seen before!
If you’re into classical music such as quartets or the National Symphony Orchestra, Wolf Trap is your venue. With beautiful architecture and a luscious lawn, this venue provides the perfect evening for dates and families. Wolf Trap National Park is located in Vienna, VA, roughly 30 minutes outside of Washington D.C.
One of Washington D.C.’s best clubs is Echostage, located in NE Washington. Although the outside looks like a warehouse (which I’m pretty sure it is), the inside has been remodeled to look like you’re in a 5 Star club! Two tiers, a bar, and a stage accessible to everyone makes Echostage set itself apart from the other clubs.
Finally, the Verizon Center, the epitome of Washington D.C. Music Venues! Bringing in performers like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, and Katy Perry, the Verizon Center located right in Chinatown is a great location for concerts. The open-ness of the arena paired with the large pit area allows the fan experience to be off the charts!
