7) Whitlow’s on Wilson

Dozens of beers on tap, a dozen more in bottled, every Monday – Tuesdays – Thursdays from 4:00pm – 7:00pm and Wednesday – Friday from 4:00pm – 9:00pm. They even have an amazing Rooftop Tiki Bar that opens Monday-Thursday at 5:00pm, Friday at 4:00pm, and Saturday – Sunday at Noon. Even better, they have one of the best brunches in town every Saturday-Sunday from 10:00am – 3:00pm. Oh, and crab legs! Woohoo!

6) Pho 75
Although there are plenty of Pho places around the country/world, Pho 75 has a certain ambiance about it that makes it stick out above others. Maybe it’s the fact that their servers don’t speak a lick of english outside of the numbers of each item, maybe it’s the fact that the restaurant is practically a cafeteria, with long, multi-party tables, or maybe it’s the fact that their menu is limited to their specialties. Who knows? All I know is that it is worth the $10. Beware, the worse the weather, the longer the lines. This big bowl of happiness brings warmth to the hearts of those who cope with the poor weather.Note: Cash only!!

5) El Pollo Rico
Solomente pollo, arroz, cole slaw, y papas fritas. Only chicken, rice, cole slaw, and fries. Such a limited selection, yet every day around noon, the line is 30 people long and winding out the door. This little hole in the wall cooks their chicken so tender that the flavor lingers in your mouth for hours. A quarter chicken with two sides and a drink runs you $6.50, a deal so good you cant pass it up.

4) Lost Dog Café
Although most known for their delectable pizza, the Lost Dog Cafe also serves a wide array of delicious sandwiches and beers, both on tap and bottled. For delivery, take out, or dine in, the LDC has something for everyone. My personal favorite: The Phoenix. “Tender chunks of seasoned chicken breast baked and placed in pita with melted mozzarella cheese, lettuce and garlic mayo.” I also add pineapple, all for only $8.50.

3) The Broiler
Subs subs and more subs! Four different types of cheesesteaks, meatball subs, cheeseburger subs, the works. $5.15 for a regular, $10.30 for a large, and a smile on your face that’s priceless. I hope health is not your priority because cholesterol and sodium will be pumping through your blood for the next few hours. Don’t be ashamed of the food baby, it’s inevitable.
